Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am so happy to be teaching our students this year. With each passing semester I see our kids making more progress, creating more insightful work, and building skills to work more independently! I could not be more proud of their successes these past couple years and can't wait to see what they have in store for us this year.
We have some exciting changes coming to the music department and arts collaborative as whole. For our middle schoolers we will be offering elective choices in art, music, or dance. They will attend their selected class five times a week. This will allow our students to exercise their agency and develop more specialized skills as they prepare for high school.
We will also be bringing in guest artist professionals for our kids to meet and learn from through structured workshops. We want our children to experience people in the real world doing what they love and exposing them to the path young professional walk to reach success in their field.
As we work with partnerships in NYC, we hope to bring our students to more shows and outside experiences. Through thoughtful and reorganized curriculum we hope to build artistic, empathetic, critical thinking minds. The skills they build in music will be transferable to any dream they hope to achieve.
As always please feel free to reach out to me anytime or drop by my classroom. Looking forward to what is to come!
-Ms. Lindsey
